Netflix release their new film 'Joy' on the 22nd November. This tells the remarkable true story of the birth of Louise Brown, the worlds first 'test-tube' baby in 1978. It puts a historical perspective on what seems nowadays to be a common treatment but back then was literally ground breaking.
This film will be of interest to people with experience of treatment and those working in the field. It will also help educate others.
I was fortunate to meet Louise Brown and John Webster, one of the doctors involved in her delivery around her 40th Birthday celebrations in 2018.
It was humbling to hear her speak about her parents experience and the public perceptions and stigma at the time. She has lived her life in the spotlight as the world's first IVF baby and regularly supports awareness in the field. Her book is a really interesting read and I am the proud owner of a signed copy.
